Spam tokens and NFTs

Spam assets (also known as airdrop scams) are unwanted tokens or NFTs sent to your wallet, often with the goal of tricking you into visiting malicious websites or interacting with harmful smart contracts.

Coinpanda automatically detects and filters spam tokens to keep your portfolio and tax reports accurate, but you can also manually mark any token or NFT as spam. This article provides further information on handling spam tokens in Coinpanda.

Coinpanda uses automatic detection to identify spam tokens during import from the following blockchains:

Although Coinpanda supports 150+ other blockchains, automatic spam detection is currently unavailable for those not listed in the table above.

However, managing spam tokens is both simple and effective from the dedicated Spam Center page, as you will discover later.

When you mark an asset as spam, it is:

❌ Excluded from all tax reports

You can still view spam transactions by adjusting the filters on the Transactions page.

You can mark any token or NFT as spam at any time. Coinpanda offers two ways to mark assets as spam:

PS! The Mark as Spam action is only available for Receive transactions. If, for any reason, you want to mark other transactions than Receive as spam, see the next section about the Spam Center.

If any asset has been wrongly marked as spam by Coinpanda, or if you have accidentally marked the wrong asset as spam manually, you can whitelist the asset and restore all transactions this way:

This action will whitelist the asset to ensure that any future transactions imported are not marked as spam. This also applies if you delete all previously imported transactions and re-import your transaction history from the API.

Selecting "Unmark as spam" will also reverse the spam status of all previously imported transactions, such that all transactions of the asset will be included in your portfolio and tax calculations.

This section shows all assets imported from blockchains that may be spam, but are not yet marked as such. These are:

Tokens tracked by CoinGecko are intentionally excluded from potential spam, since any tokens that are tradeable and have significant value should not be treated as spam in Coinpanda.

If any asset has not been automatically identified as spam by Coinpanda, or if you have accidentally unmarked an asset as spam manually, you can blacklist the asset and mark all transactions as spam this way:

This action will blacklist the asset, ensuring that any future imported transactions are automatically marked as spam. This also applies if you delete all previously imported transactions and re-import your transaction history from the API.

Selecting "Mark as spam" will also mark all previously imported transactions as spam. This is very helpful since you only need to mark the same asset as spam one time - no need to mark each individual transaction as spam anymore!
