"Missing market price" warnings

You will see a "Missing market price" warning when Coinpanda doesn't know the market rate of a currency at the time of the transaction. While we are fetching market rates from multiple sources, the majority of our market rates are from CoinGecko.

There can be a few different reasons why we don't have the market rate on any particular day:

  • CoinGecko does not yet support the currency

  • CoinGecko does not have any price information on the particular day

  • Issue related to the CoinGecko API for fetching market rates

  • The currency is not identified correctly

Some examples of warnings are seen in the image below:

The first warning for SHIB is actually related to an issue with the CoinGecko API that occurred on March 16, 2023. On this day, we were not able to fetch market rates for multiple currencies, which even resulted in such warnings for many large-cap cryptocurrencies. This issue is now fixed, and we have synced market rates for all days that were missing earlier.

The warning for USDT on March 22 occurs because the transaction involves a fake USDT token and is not identified as Tether - the real USDT token. You can safely ignore all warnings for spam or phishing tokens such as this one or tag the transaction as Spam/Ignore, which will also hide the warning.

The last warning for WHEX on Fantom appears because the token is not identified as a token we support based on the contract address. CoinGecko currently doesn't support Wrapped Hex on any chains, so we don't have any price information about this token - whether real or fake.

How to fix missing price warnings

The best way to fix missing price warnings depends on why the warning appears:

  1. If the token or coin is not identified correctly, please create a forum post in the section Missing Currencies. Remember to include as many details as possible, such as a link to CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap, the contract address, or other relevant information.

  2. If the token or coin is identified correctly, please first check that CoinGecko has market value on the specific date. If a market rate does exist, you can create a forum post with relevant details.

  3. Most wrapped/staked/locked/bonded tokens are usually not supported by CoinGecko, but we can support such tokens in most cases. Again, the easiest and quickest way to get help is to create a forum post with a link to the token on a block explorer.

If, for some reason, we cannot support the token with market rates, you have the option to edit the value manually. You can do this by clicking the "Value" box on the transaction page, which opens the modal window below.
